How Quickly Can Professionals Paint Your Walls?

When considering changing the colors of your walls, one thing you might wonder about is how long the job will take. After all, having to stay away from wet paint is no minor inconvenience. Luckily, paint keeps improving both in terms of coat quality and drying time, so painting walls takes less time than you would think. Here's how quickly a professional house painter can tackle the project.

The Preparation

Perhaps what takes the most time when it comes to painting your walls is preparing to paint. However, if done thoroughly and correctly, preparation can make the actual painting a breeze. A professional house painter will have the correct equipment to tape off areas, set up drop cloths, and prepare the surfaces to be painted, including repairing dings and creating a smooth area to paint.

The Painting

After prep, the professional house painter proceeds by using a smaller brush to paint a small frame around the edges of the wall. This isn't too time-consuming, especially if there are a couple of brushes and sets of helping hands to work around the sides of the wall and meet in the middle. From there, applying the majority of the paint is the quickest part of the process since the painter can use a roller to quickly fill in everything inside of the painted frame. A long handle on the roller can expedite the process of getting every nook and cranny painted by removing the need for a ladder. This can be extremely quick, even on a large interior wall. An experienced painter could knock out most walls, once framed, in about half an hour.

The Drying

One great thing about how paint has improved is that many jobs only require one coat of paint. Even in cases where the original wall was a bold color, one coat of paint can be enough to completely cover what was done before and change the wall to the desired color. Contrary to what is implied by sayings such as "waiting for paint to dry," the paint used on your walls dries faster than you might think. In fact, according to Bob Vila, latex is dry to touch in two to three hours and safe for a second coat in just four to five hours. This means that an entire paint job, even one including a couple of coats, can be completed in just one day.

Now that you know just how fast a professional house painter can get the job done, there's no reason to wait to hire one. Get in touch with us at Flores Drywall and Paint today! We'll take care of every step of the process for you.
